De-Mixing The Genres

ROUND TWO: The Best Male Vocalists Ever

I got lots of feedback on my original list. Several people made really good arguments, including the fact that it’s impossible to mix such a diverse field of genres. So I decided to to with another approach to my favorite male vocalists, this time listed by Genre. See if this strikes you as more fair. (NOTE: I realize many artists could be classified in a different genre, but this was the best way I could manage it!)

Okay, Jerm,,,I can appreciate this approach,,,So here are my thoughts on each category: POP – I’d Consider MJ to be more R&B than Pop,,, even though he’s called the “King of Pop. My favorite MJ tunes are definetly R&B. ROCK – Can’t argue with Steve Perry,, great voice,,but I certainly don’t have a vast amount of knowledge of this genre. R&B / SOUL – Gaye, Wonder and Donny could be interchanged in any order and I wouldn’t argue. I’d give the edge to Stevie, with Donny # 2 and please get rid of Debarge and give his spot to someone more deserving,,like Michael McDonald . Hey how’d Luther V sneak up past Ingram ? JAZZ / CROONER – Looks good to me. OLDIES – Okay,, I’m gonna leave your boy Roy alone,,but Johnny Mathis should be up higher, or moved to the CROONER list. COUNTRY – You really ought to find a spot for Lee Greenwood,,,this guy could just flat out sing,,,Lovett’s spot perhaps ? CHRISTIAN – There are obviously many black gospel greats that could fall into this list,, there probably should be a separate category,,and I realize that’s not a genre that you have a lot time invested in listening to. Hit YouTube and check out:
    1) Smokie Norful
    2) Rev. James Moore
    3) Daryl Coley

Three of the greatest voices on all time.

Finally,,These are guys that would’ve made my list , and should’ve made yours
    AL Jarreau
    Jose Feliciano
    Neil Sedaka
    Bobby McFerrin

Thanks for investing the time to create these lists and give you and I another chance to debate,, I always enjoy it !!!
